Lash Lift vs Lash Perm

December 14, 2017 - 11:16 am

This has been one of the most common questions asked by my clients. Over the past two years, Facebook and Instagram have been bombarded by photos of lash lifts (and any of its similar brands like yumi lash lift, keratin lash lift), and many lash artists have added this service to their salon menus.

Lash Perm

The lash perm is no stranger to the beauty world. It is a treatment that results in lashes being semi-permanently curled for weeks through winding the hairs around a cylindrical rod (see photo above). The perming solution is usually applied over the entire lash, which increases the risk of over processing.

Lash Lift

While the perm curls your lashes, a lash lift ‘lifts’ your lashes up from the base. Using a chemical solution as a perm, the lash lift uses more of a speed bump shaped device called a silicone shield (see photo above) instead of a cylindrical rod. Most lash lifting processes usually end with a nourishing oil to add moisture to the lashes.

Blink only offers Lash Lift and a Keratin Lash Lift in our menus now because we found that the milder solution is better for the health of the lashes. This is a good alternative for people who don't like getting lash extensions, but still wants to enhance the look of their natural eyelashes.
