Lash Perm

Everything you Need to Know about Lash Perms!

NOTE: As of May 2017, Blink Beauty Parlour has replaced our lash perm service to a keratin lash lift service.

Why would anyone get lash perm?

Call it an optical illusion: Upturned eyelashes look longer than very straight ones. Perming straight eyelashes to get a gentle curl will give them instant length and create the effect of bigger, brighter, ultra feminine eyes.

Anyone with a busy schedule or an active lifestyle will appreciate the low-maintenance nature of the lash perm.

This semi-permanent treatment eliminates the need for eyelash curlers for up to six weeks, making it  a perfect pre-vacation treat and a popular option for big events like parties, weddings, proms and photo-shoots.

How do eyelash perms work?

  1. Eyes and eyelashes will be cleansed with a non-oily make-up remover.
  2. An appropriately sized silicone rod will be chosen depending on the look you wish to achieve.
  3. A thin strip of glue will be applied to the rod, which your esthetician will then bend and shape to fit the curve of your eyelid snuggly but comfortably. Your lashes will then be pushed upwards and secured to the rod.
  4. Perming solution will be applied.
  5. Once coated, your eyes will then be covered with a plastic film to generate warmth (heat speeds up the perming process).
  6. Once activated, perming solution will be removed.
  7. Then, the setting solution will be applied.
  8. Again, a plastic film will be used to cover the lashes and generate warmth.
  9. The setting solution will be removed as well as the silicone rods by rolling them downwards back over the lashes.
  10. After any excess lotion is removed with a damp, clean cotton, a moisturising product will then be applied on the lashes.

How long does the whole process take?

It will take anywhere between 45 minutes to an hour.

What are the results of an eyelash perm?

The curl in your lashes will last anywhere from four weeks to eight weeks. As your lashes grow and fall out (the life cycle of lashes is about 60 to 120 days), the effects become less noticeable.

What should you do to take care of your lashes?

An eyelash perm could last up to 8 weeks if you care for your lashes properly. You are advised to follow the following eyelash perm aftercare tips:

  • Avoid rubbing lashes or touching your areas for 24 hours.
  • Avoid steam or hot water around the eye area for 24 hours.
  • Apply vitamin E oil to condition and moisturize eyelashes daily before bedtime.
  • To maintain the quality of your lash perm and/or tint, you should make an appointment every 4 to 6 weeks.

What are the risks of eyelash perms?

Eyes and the skin around them are extremely delicate, and can incur irritation If the solution is left on too long, it can fry your lashes, making them break or fall out.

An extra word of caution: Be sure to seek out a qualified professional esthetician who performs multiple eyelash perms on a daily basis. This is an instance where you should seek out the best, not the cheapest!
